    Abstract:

    An adaptive multi-scale edge detection algorithm and its fast implementation are presented in this paper. The algorithm detects edges by adaptively finding the optimal filter scale for each pixel with less computation. A method is presented to determine the range of edge scales of an image adaptively. The edge scale is treated as a parameter to describe the edge characteristic. The method is used in detecting edges of real images, and the result is satisfactory.
