In recent years, great advances have been made in the QoS（quality of service） management and its implementation supporting mechanisms in distributed multimedia systems. In this paper, the QoS management implementation supporting mechanisms are discussed from following aspects: admission control and resource reservation, rate-based flow control, error control, scheduling and synchronization. Finally, future research works are proposed.
