An operational profile describes how users employ a software system．By developing operational profiles of a software system，operator can guide testing efficiently and increase software reliability as maximum as possible．This paper mainly analyses and discusses basic processes and main methods of developing an operational profile，on the basis of introducing main concepts in operational profiles．
